This card can be used to purchase goods and services from any South African merchant that accepts Mastercard Rand based payments. You can also load it as a payment method for online services such as Zapper, Snapscan, Temu, DSTV, Wallet Doc and many others.

Important notes:

This is a Rand-based online product, so merchants must be settling in Rands.

Certain international products present their products in Rands but actually charge the users in EUR or USD. In these cases the card will not work, examples are:

Prepaid Mastercard does not accept crypto but Bitrefill provides a workaround by allowing you to purchase an Prepaid Mastercard gift card with Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency. This gift card can then be used to make purchases at Prepaid Mastercard.

  1. Enter the amount you want the Prepaid Mastercard gift card to have.
  2. Choose the cryptocurrency you want to use for payment, such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Lightning, Ethereum, USDT, USDC, Litecoin, Dogecoin or Dash. Alternatively you can pay using Binance Pay.
  3. Once your payment is confirmed, you will get your Prepaid Mastercard gift card code.

I liked that it’s prepaid and the redemption was easy. I would have preferred if more online stores accepted it and if it was Apple Pay compatible
